The Story Behind Bee & Bloom
Bee & Bloom started with a simple idea, flowers that feel like they’ve just been picked from a garden.
Right now, I source beautiful seasonal stems and create small-batch bouquets each week.
By summer, these bouquets will begin to include flowers grown right here in my garden in Elsecar, chosen for pollinators first, and people second.
This is just the beginning.
🌱 On the windowsill
Sweet peas in toilet roll tubes. Cosmos seedlings. Dahlia tubers planted. Several varieties of sweet pea alone, chosen for the long-tongued bumblebees that can reach inside.
🐝 First visitors
The bees found the garden before I'd even finished planting. Early bumblebee queens, out and looking for food. This is exactly why the early nectar plants went in first.
🌸 Coming this summer
From July, the first Bee & Bloom bouquets will be ready to cut. Seasonal, grown without pesticides, with a card naming every flower and the wildlife it fed while it was growing.
Our Story
Bee & Bloom didn’t begin in a garden. It began at 6am, face-first in a bush, with a macro lens and a bumblebee that had no idea it was being watched.
I’m Gemma, a wildlife photographer based in South Yorkshire. I’ve spent years watching bees navigate petals in extraordinary close-up detail, and what those hours taught me is this: the flowers matter more than almost anything else. The right plant in the right garden can be the difference between a bee colony thriving and struggling. Between a garden full of life and a garden that’s beautiful but essentially silent.
Every flower at Bee & Bloom was chosen because a specific creature needs it. The beauty follows naturally.
From summer 2026, some of what this garden grows will become seasonal bouquets, cut fresh, grown without pesticides, and carrying a simple story with every stem. Every flower spent its growing weeks feeding something with wings.
The Garden
Follow the journey from the first seeds of spring to armfuls of summer blooms.
Here in the Bee & Bloom garden we’re growing a mix of flowers chosen not only for their beauty, but for the wildlife they support. Throughout the season we’ll be sharing what’s growing, what’s blooming and the pollinators visiting the garden.
Flowers for Wildlife
Every flower in the Bee & Bloom garden is chosen with wildlife in mind.
From early spring nectar plants for hungry bees to seed heads for birds later in the year, the garden is designed to support pollinators and create a thriving natural space.
By growing flowers this way, we’re not just creating bouquets, we’re creating habitat.
Seasonal Flowers
As the seasons change, the Bee & Bloom garden will begin producing natural bouquets grown right here in the garden.
Each bouquet will be made using flowers grown in harmony with nature and picked fresh from the garden.
Follow along as the Bee & Bloom garden grows through the seasons, from sowing seeds to the first flowers of summer.
